kiribati integrated maneaba project

The Kiribati Integrated Maneaba Project (KIMP) is a proposed new cultural hub for the i-Kiribati diaspora in New Zealand. The project is a proposal on behalf of the Kiribati Aotearoa Diaspora Directorate (KADD), a youth-led charitable trust. It will work primarily as a centre for the celebration and promotion of Kiribati culture, while being a space to be shared with other Pacific communities in the country.

Modelling a traditional Kiribati maneaba - made with locally sourced materials - it provides the inclusivity of the traditional meeting space while glass partitions provide practical relief from the changing seasons. The scheme includes communal food gardens and ancillary spaces such as offices for KADD and transitional housing.
