moonah house
Set on the rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula outside Melbourne, this house was conceived as a single storey dwelling with a controlled connection to the north facing terrace via sliding timber screens. The plan operates as study of public and private spaces separated by an internal courtyard. Sliding internal partitions open from the hallway into bedrooms with each room having glass sliding doors with sightlines out into landscape from north to south as one moves through the building. Simple raw materials such as concrete, galvanised steel and local timber are used to meet the required budget while creating a series of clean, honest forms.
